Trust and FAQ

Privacy, security, and trust

What PointsPilot can access, how your information is used, and the controls you have. Recommendations are estimates, with their evidence available for review.

Read-only first

PointsPilot is designed around analysis and recommendations before any automation. Connected account data should be used to understand spend patterns, balances, and card fit.

No bank credential storage

Bank connections should be handled through a provider such as Plaid, so PointsPilot does not ask for or store bank usernames and passwords.

User-controlled recommendations

Card and redemption recommendations remain visible suggestions. The user decides what to apply and when.

Explainable recommendations

Every card, routing, and redemption recommendation should show the signal behind it: category spend, missed points, annual fees, goals, or expiration risk.

Privacy notice

You control what PointsPilot keeps

Effective September 4, 2026. This beta notice describes the product as it operates today and will be revised when access or data use changes.

Data we store

Your account profile, cards you add, reward balances, connected account metadata, imported transactions, benefit progress, vault memberships, corrections, and consent history.

Connection security

Plaid access tokens and vault membership numbers are encrypted at rest. PointsPilot does not receive or store your bank username or password and does not initiate payments.

How data is used

Connected data is used to categorize purchases, calculate points, recommend cards you already own, track benefits, troubleshoot the beta, and improve product reliability.

Your choices

Disconnect an institution at any time, download a structured copy of your data, or permanently delete your account from Settings. Deletion revokes Plaid access before removing app and login records.

Optional Gmail membership discovery

With your separate permission in My Vault, PointsPilot reads matching Gmail messages to find airline, hotel, rental and lounge memberships. Strongly identified numbers are saved automatically; uncertain matches need review. This discovery feature does not store email bodies or send them to AI services. Membership numbers and your confirmed member name are encrypted at rest.

Discovery controls and retention

You can disable membership discovery or disconnect Gmail at any time. Disabling removes discovery suggestions and the confirmed member name, but keeps memberships already saved to your Vault. Unreviewed numbers expire after 30 days and are cleared during a Vault visit or the daily cleanup. Masked discovery metadata and keyed duplicate-prevention fingerprints remain until discovery is disabled, Gmail is disconnected, or your account is deleted. Settings includes data export and account deletion.

Beta terms

Decision support

PointsPilot provides estimates and organizational tools, not financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. Issuer terms control eligibility and earning.

User responsibility

Keep account access secure, review imported categories and card mappings, and confirm important benefits or rewards with the issuer before acting.

Beta availability

Features and calculations may change during testing. Report incorrect results through Settings so they can be investigated and corrected.

Frequently asked questions

What is PointsPilot?

PointsPilot is a credit-card rewards optimization product. The goal is to help people track cards and points, pick the right card for each purchase, understand annual-fee ROI, and turn rewards into specific goals.

Is this only for luxury travel?

No. Travel redemptions are one possible use case, but PointsPilot is focused on maximizing credit card usage and points value generally: groceries, gas, dining, bills, cashback, signup bonuses, and long-term financial planning.

How would bank connections work?

The planned product uses secure account-linking providers such as Plaid to import transactions and account metadata. That data powers spend analysis and recommendations.

Is PointsPilot giving financial advice?

No. PointsPilot should provide educational analysis and decision support. Users are responsible for credit decisions, applications, balances, payments, and whether a card fits their financial situation.

What happens when I join the waitlist?

Your email and stated interest are collected so PointsPilot can follow up about beta access and product demos. The app can also forward submissions to a configured waitlist system.
